Product: Stella Pendant

Stella is a dynamic pendant light that can be effortlessly expanded to a wide range of sizes from 10” (25.4 cm) to 59” (150 cm) in diameter, depending on user needs. Made up of multiple interwoven aluminum arm segments with strategically placed pivot joints, this dynamic fixture transforms from inward-facing illumination to downward-facing direct lighting when expanded outward. Stella’s highly versatile suspension system also allows for inverting the fixture to provide upward-facing indirect lighting, all in a single fixture. Stella is offered in three matte-painted finishes in graphite and sand. Its playful and highly interactive design invites a new kind of relationship with the light source. Ideally suited over table surfaces, entryway foyers, or expansive chandelier groupings.

Pablo Pardo & Fermando Pardo

Venezuelan-born industrial designer Pablo Pardo has defined his career by creating contemporary, sparse, utilitarian lighting that fosters harmonious relationships between people and their environments. In doing so, he has forged a method of design that strives to uncover the essence of an idea while always championing the user experience. Concepts laid bare, his objects speak a universal language. Since establishing Pablo Designs in San Francisco in 1993, Pardo’s studio has gained international recognition for its innovative lighting and home furnishings.

Many of Pardo's works have garnered both national and international awards including Best Lighting at NY's International Contemporary Fair ICFF, Best of Competition at Chicago's Neocon Fair,  Best of the Year Winner in Interior Design, the Red Dot Award, and the German Design Award among others. He also has works in San Francisco's Museum of Modern Art Permanent Collection. He has established enduring collaborations with designers who share his studio's vision, believing that diverse ideas and perspectives inform a higher sense of purpose. Pardo attributes his early passion for design to his upbringing, which he spent surrounded by a family of artists and engineers. Having combined traits from each sphere, he’s shaped a unique creative process upon which his studio thrives.

A 1986 graduate from the University of Cincinnati's renowned industrial design program, Pardo’s diverse career includes designing children's roller skates for Fisher Price to creating automobile concept designs for Chrysler.

Born in Venezuela, Fernando Pardo is a prolific designer with over twenty years of experience creating products for the transportation, consumer electronics, office seating, automotive and medical products industries. Although designing for such fields requires sophisticated technical knowledge, it is the instinct to make objects more human that drives his creative sensibility.Since lending his craftsmanship to companies such as Sony, Dell, Embraer, Compaq, Pablo, BMW, and others, Pardo has been internationally recognized as a leading design thinker.

His “Gina” car for BMW won the “Concept Car of the Year” award in 2008, and, in addition to being showcased in the BMW Museum in Munich, continues to serve as the foundation for the company’s contemporary auto designs.

Most recently Pardo received a 2012 Red Dot Award for his lamp, PIXO, which he created with his twin brother, Pablo founder Pablo Pardo. Fernando is a graduate of the design program at the University of Cincinnati.
