Extremely rare, elegant, "1 of a kind" "SIGNED & NUMBERED" neoclassical 1940's chest.
Commisioned, designed & fabricated by Johan Tapp for designer Robert Dorr, Jr.
Custom made by Mr. Tapp in his high-end Chicago workshop with "rare" original cast hardware by Johan Tapp
Exceptional details include the boldly grained Japanese birch wood, the contrasting carved leaf motif surrounding the hand cast avante- garde metal art-deco pulls, the angled sides, and the contrasting finished base. In excellent condition consistent with the age of this item.

Prior to coming to the United States, Mr.Tapp was known & accredited as a specialty hardware designer & fabricator for Europe's finest cabinet makers.
As Mr.Tapp's demand for his commisioned pieces had grown he started reproducing copies of which he later made in his workshop. The "acorn type" hardware and less expensive species of wood were replaced and sold through high-end furniture stores.
