In 1959 Jim Peed moved to Hickory, NC where he designed for Hickory Manufacturing and later, Drexel Furniture, where he ultimately directed design, merchandising and advertising for all three divisions of Drexel Enterprises.
Jim founded his own furniture design firm, Jim Peed Associates, in 1969 with a Drexel associate, Jim Drum.
Over the next 30 years, he worked with leading furniture companies including Henredon, Hickory Chair, Thomasville, Drexel, DMI, National Mt. Airy, Bassett, Century and many more.
Known for his keen eye and sharp wit, Jim was sought for his opinion in numerous magazine and newspaper articles over the years.
This rare console was designed by Jim Peed for LJ Newton which was the wholesale division of W. & J. SLOANE in NEW YORK.
